Lavaï is named after the house in which, some years ago, a family decided to lay down its roots. Now, we go there to remember who we are. Our memories of the house have the same warmth as a stone path after a hot summer day. There’s a lime tree, which welcomes us every season. The wind carries the scent of the forest into the living room, bringing hints of apples and melons. It anchors us, and reminds us that we’re not separate from the nature with which we are surrounded, but part of it. This is what inspires us. It is the wellspring of the Lavaï brand.

The world of Lavaï furniture is powered by the unique vision of its founder, Isaure Ferté. Drawing from both her upbringing in France and her extensive travels in Asia, the designer’s ability to seamlessly mix influences has created an innovative signature style. Her passion for combining materials to create an optimal mix of form and function gives her creations an instantly recognisable character.

Lavaï furniture is designed to breathe intimacy into interiors over time. Designed for evolving environments, they are built to a modular philosophy, allowing them to adapt to uses and spaces as needed.

02 Engagement Responsable

Respect for our materials and the people who work with them

Established in Indonesia, Lavaï has built a production process that is attentive to both the people we work with and the environment we are part of. As soon as a tree is felled, the forest is replanted in such a way that maintains its stability. We work with certified and labeled wood.

We believe it is important to be present at the site of production, working directly with those who give life to our creations. For example, many of the craftsmen we work with grew up around the forest and treat the wood with passion and respect from a workshop in situ. The result is that the piece of furniture makes only one journey before sale, from its original source to the point of display.

Our furniture is made in traditional workshops, by a collective of craftsmen who have become masters in their field. More than anything else, it is the artisanal skill and experience of these craftsmen that allows our products to be what they are.

Materials are carefully selected before being worked by hand. From solid wood to wickerwork to cement tiles, all these materials benefit from natural treatments that both highlight their unique qualities and support their longevity.

The furniture is designed already assembled, and is delivered ready to be installed.
